Janice Pennington
Janice contacted me as she wanted a brand new site built in Squarespace that she could use as a portfolio for her work. The site was mainly to share projects with friends and family and the design was plenty of white space, easy to navigate “and no moving objects!”. With content coming through from Janice I got started straight away with the blog.
The blog had 4 categories initially (there may be more in the future) so I set up a blog post for each category, and made sure the design was simple and elegant.
We then worked on the quilts portfolio which was 3 categories; utility quilts, wall quilts and prayer quilts. The layout of the portfolio page was similar to the blog page, but the individual pages were walls of images to showcase the individual quilts. Again, focusing on white space and clear design layout.
I also developed an about page which had a brief introduction as well as a contact form. Links to social media were included in the header navigation and the footer and styling was kept consistent throughout (for example I added custom code to create some borders around certain images throughout the site).
Upon finishing the site I, of course, provided Janice with her own, personalised user guide, unique to her site. This user guide explains in detail how to add new blog posts, how to rearrange the quilts on individual quilt pages etc…everything Janice needs to keep her site up to date with current content. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Janice and wish her all the best with the site in the future.
